CAEN Code Rev. 3

2733

Manufacture of connection devices for electrical and electronic wires and cables

EU NACE Equivalent: NACE Rev. 3 — 2733

This code covers the manufacture of connecting devices for electrical and electronic wires and cables, including connectors, terminals, clamps, plugs, sockets and other interconnection components. Essentially, if you produce components that allow joining or terminating cables and wires, this is your code. Activities include both the production of connectors for general use and for specialized applications such as automotive, industrial or telecommunications.

Entrepreneur Profile

Who should avoid:

Avoid the exclusive use of code 2733 if the main activity of your company shifts towards other commercial or related branches not specified in the official description. See the excluded activities section below.

Authorization procedure and Trade Register aspects for CAEN 2733

For registration with the Trade Register (ONRC) of a company with main object of activity CAEN code 2733, the standard registration file is submitted according to Law 265/2022. At incorporation, the declaration on own responsibility (according to Law 359/2004) is completed by which the administrator attests to meeting the legal operating conditions. No prior operating approvals are required at the level of the Trade Register, but it is recommended to explicitly mention the specific activities (manufacture of connectors, terminals, clamps, plugs, etc.) in the extended object of activity to avoid subsequent blockages in sectoral authorizations. If the company will import or export electrical/electronic components, correct customs coding of goods and, possibly, registration as an economic operator in the RO e-Safety system are required.

Regulatory framework, specific approvals and control institutions

The manufacturing activity of connection devices falls under product safety legislation (Law 245/2004), with compliance with harmonized standards of the SR EN 61984 (connectors) and SR EN 60999 (terminals) families. The activity holder must obtain an EC certificate of conformity from a notified body if products are placed on the EU market. ANPC and the Territorial Labor Inspectorate (ITM) periodically verify production conditions. If the process involves welding, soldering or chemical treatments, the following are mandatory: ISCIR/ANRE verification for own electrical installations, OHS and fire safety program. For resulting waste (copper, plastics), the selective collection regime applies with records in the environmental file. No environmental permit is issued (only notification) if the capacity thresholds provided for in Law 104/2011 are not exceeded.

Tax management, risk of ANAF audit and specific accounting

Revenue from the sale of connectors and terminals is subject to the standard VAT rate (19%) for finished products. Production costs (raw materials – copper, brass, polymers) are recorded separately in accounts 301/302, with standard cost calculation. It is recommended to use account 345 for finished products at recording price, with monthly adjustments of effective cost. ANAF monitors sector risk by checking the fiscal vector (compliance with declarations 390, 394 and SAF-T). To avoid reclassification, invoices to clients must contain the correct CAEN code and exact description of goods. For import of electronic components, the exemption regime with OPCOM applies, monitored through the customs declaration. If the company owns CNC machines or presses, depreciation is linear over the normal useful life (according to H.244/2022). Do not neglect the obligation to complete the single declaration for income associated with intellectual property rights, if own designs of plugs or connectors are created. Any transaction with operators outside the EU (e.g., Taiwan or China) is reported in Intrastat forms, with risk of sampling of tax inspections within a maximum of 5 years from the operation.

Întrebări Frecvente

What authorizations are required for the manufacture of connection devices?

In general, an environmental permit (if hazardous substances are used) and compliance with quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001, IEC) are required. For products intended for the EU market, CE marking may be required according to applicable directives (e.g., LVD, EMC).

Can I produce connectors for medical equipment with this CAEN code?

No, connectors for implantable medical devices or specific medical use are manufactured under code 3250 (Manufacture of medical devices). For general connectors used in medical equipment, code 2733 is acceptable, but additional regulations (e.g., ISO 13485) must be observed.
