Social Work Activities Without Accommodation (NACE 881)
In Romania, the aging population and the increasing number of persons with disabilities have generated a growing demand for social assistance services that allow these categories to live as independently as possible, without having to be institutionalized in accommodation facilities. NACE code 881 covers precisely those support activities, such as home care, day centers, or adapted transport services. From a macroeconomic perspective, this sector has experienced significant development over the last decade, both due to European funding and the outsourcing of social services by local authorities. A major challenge for entrepreneurs operating in this niche is attracting and retaining qualified personnel in an increasingly tense labor market. Also, strict regulations regarding authorization and quality standards require constant investments in training and infrastructure. Nevertheless, opportunities are immense, especially in disadvantaged rural and urban areas where access to such services is limited. In the context of the active aging and deinstitutionalization trend, NACE 881 becomes a strategic field for social cohesion and the sustainable development of local communities.
