Primary education
Primary education represents the foundation of the Romanian educational system, having a direct impact on children's cognitive and social development. In Romania, this economic division includes both state and private units that provide education for preparatory classes up to the 4th grade. Macroeconomically, this sector is essential for human capital formation, influencing long-term productivity and innovation. Although the state is the main provider, recent years have seen an increase in the number of private schools, attracted by the demand for alternative educational programs and higher standards. Entrepreneurs operating in this field face challenges related to compliance with the national curriculum, obtaining operating authorizations, and attracting qualified teaching staff. At the same time, digitization and the introduction of technology in the classroom open new perspectives but require significant investments. In the context of declining birth rates, competition for students becomes fiercer, and schools must offer differentiated services to survive. Nevertheless, primary education remains a stable niche with growth potential, especially in disadvantaged urban areas where access to quality education is limited.
