Air Passenger Transport Industry
The air passenger transport industry is one of the engines of the modern economy, facilitating global connections and labor mobility. In Romania, this sector has experienced significant growth in recent years, with accession to the Schengen area and the expansion of low-cost networks. In addition to scheduled flights, the charter and leisure aviation segments have registered a particular dynamic, attracting investments in fleets and infrastructure. From a macroeconomic perspective, air transport contributes substantially to GDP through direct effects (flight operations) and indirect effects (tourism, trade, related services). Challenges faced by entrepreneurs in this field include fuel price volatility, high costs for qualified personnel (pilots, engineers), and compliance with strict safety standards imposed by EASA. Moreover, fierce competition on European routes and the pressure to maintain affordable fares require rigorous cost management and a flexible routing strategy. The digitalization of booking and check-in processes, as well as the adoption of more fuel-efficient aircraft, are trends shaping the future of this industry.
