Extraction of Natural Gas
The extraction of natural gas is a fundamental link in Romania's energy chain, a country that ranks among the main gas producers in the European Union. CAEN code 062 covers both the drilling and bringing to the surface of gas, as well as the initial stages of treatment, such as component separation, desulfurization and liquefaction. This activity is strictly regulated by national authorities, and exploitation concessions are granted based on licenses issued by the National Agency for Mineral Resources (ANRM).
From a macroeconomic perspective, natural gas is essential for energy security and for maintaining a balanced mix in electricity and heating production. In recent years, the industry has undergone major transformations, from important discoveries in the Black Sea to the modernization of transport infrastructure. The main challenges for entrepreneurs include massive capital investments, fluctuations in international prices, and increasingly stringent environmental protection requirements. Additionally, the availability of specialized human resources (engineers, geologists, drillers) and access to advanced drilling technologies are critical success factors. Despite the global trend towards decarbonization, natural gas plays a transitional role, maintaining investor interest in this strategic field.
